We have the answers to your questions.
Rhomberg Bahntechnik has gained experience in finding solutions during years. The most common questions and the referring solutions are summarised below:
>> How is the adjusted track fixed after the process of adjustment (before pouring in the concrete)?
>> Do the prefabricated concrete slabs of the system bbw-RSS remain in the filling concrete? Is this a weak spot?
>> How can loose sleepers in the slab track be avoided?
>> Is it possible to construct a slab track line without access to an existing railway network?
>> What is the difference between Rhomberg and other companies which are working in this field of railway engineering?
>> How is possible to ensure the concrete supply in single track tunnels?
How is the adjusted track fixed after the process of adjustment (before pouring in the concrete)?
During the development of new systems, Rhomberg Bahntechnik always strives to implement the gathered know-how of working with conventional ballasted tracks. The development of the adjustment wedges (LINK bbw-RSS!!) has also been driven by this idea: The track is held just by its own weight. This is just possible due to a consequent reduction of all residual forces. Furthermore the resulting forces always remain inside the kern of adjustment elements and prefabricated concrete elements. This avoids a cleavage and undesired lateral movements of the track.

Do the prefabricated concrete slabs of the system bbw-RSS remain in the filling concrete? Is this a weak spot?
The little prefabricated slab (each has a weight of about 10 kg) will be adapted to the referring cross section and remain in the filling concrete. But due to its rough surface the compound with the filling concrete (of the same strength) is very strong. This has been tested and confirmed by the University of Aachen / Germany.

How can loose sleepers in the slab track be avoided
Rhomberg Bahntechnik has developed special finishers (LINK!!!) for the construction of slab track sections. One of the most important issues is the complete underflow of the sleepers. The pre-deaerated concrete rolls under the sleeper and displaces the air. Together with optimised concrete recipes it is possible to reduce the air bubbles to a minimum.
Furthermore Rhomberg endues a patent for the post-treatment: The recently underfilled sleepers can be lowered with control by means of the adjustment elements (LINK!!). This leads to an additional consolidation of the concrete under the sleepers and keeps the adhesive forces.

Is it possible to construct a slab track line without access to an existing railway network?
The answer is definitely Yes! By means of special assembling rails or templates it is possible to adjust and construct the track without systematic failures. Performances up to 800 m per shift have been possible by this construction method without the long rails.

What is the difference between Rhomberg and other companies which are working in this field of railway engineering?
Certainly the most important difference is the Overall-competence due internal know-how: The core-competence for every task related to the railway engineering is in the house. Former problems with interfaces have demonstrated the necessity to optimise always the whole project but the coordination and the responsibility have to be dedicated to one single hand ! Thats our role and we fulfil it with enthusiasm !

How is possible to ensure the concrete supply in single track tunnels?
There exist a variety of successful concepts for the track construction in long, single track tunnels. They have to be adapted to the way of adjustment - if it is executed with templates, assembly rails or long rails.
One decisive aspect is the optimisation of the logistics by taking advantage of the already constructed railway tracks by avoiding expensive additional constructions. For sure Rhomberg Bahntechnik is able to find also the optimised concrete supply for your construction !
